How to switch between SMTP mode and AD mode in GFI FaxMaker

Applies to:
  • GFI FaxMaker 2014 and older

To change from Active Directory mode to SMTP mode (and vice versa), you can choose one of the two methods below:

Using the UserMode registry key
  1. Go to Run, type Regedit and click OK
  2. Browse to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GFI Fax & Voice\FaxMaker\Config\
    • If the GFI FaxMaker Environment is 64 bit, the key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GFI Fax & Voice\FaxMaker\Config\
  3. Change the REG_DWORD key called UserMode to the desired value as follows:
  • 1 = Active Directory
  • 3 = SMTP

Note:  After the registry change, you may need to change the GFI FaxMaker Service credentials and licensed users manually
