The Exinda SD-WAN dashboard provides you with a host of powerful options to configure and monitor your SD-WAN deployment.
When you open the dashboard interface, the home screen shows you real time information about the LAN connection, the wired WAN connections, and the optional remote LAN or cellular WAN connections.
Exinda SD-WAN can operate in standalone mode which gives you the immediate benefit of HTTP traffic bonding on the downlink after connecting the wired WAN connections to the device. To demonstrate this powerful feature that is enabled without any configuration, right out of the box, let’s start a large file download. As the file is downloading, the wired WAN section shows that multiple WAN lines are automatically utilized for this session to reach a much higher combined download speed than what the individual lines would be able to provide.
Another benefit of Exinda SD-WAN is automatic failover in case the connection is lost on one of the lines. Exinda SD-WAN automatically recognizes any issue with the connections and reroutes traffic to the remaining lines without interrupting the active session.
For more advanced use cases, Exinda SD-WAN can be configured in peered mode using remote LAN connections to cloud relays or other Exinda SD-WAN devices to get the additional benefits of bonding non-HTTP traffic on both the downlink and the uplink. Remote LAN connections can be set up on the VLL tab. It is possible to select from different bonding tunnel options to maximize application performance based on the specific type of network traffic. With the aid of a bonding tunnel, Exinda SD-WAN can recover from link failures and this would be totally transparent for applications.
The advanced tab is filled with many powerful configuration options that can be used to fully customize your network setup. A few examples are Dynamic DNS to add an external DNS load balancing service, VLAN setup to create multiple logical networks for LAN segmentation, and Manual Network Routes to define a preferred WAN link or tunnel for specific traffic types.
On the admin tab, it is possible to configure various parameters such as how the console is accessible, configure email notifications for WAN link failures as an example, and enable standard SNMP network monitoring.
And finally, the performance tab is equipped with real-time monitoring widgets that can be used to drill down into any potential network issues. The charts can plot network traffic by protocol or by the individual network interfaces, and data is available as far back as the past one year.
