Wat is nieuw in GFI EventsManager™2012?

In deze release van GFI EventsManager is het product niet langer afhankelijk van SQL Server, wat inhoudt dat deze oplossing veel meer eventlog-informatie kan verwerken en opslaan.
Sommige van de nieuwe functies in GFI EventsManager 2012 zijn:
Op bestanden gebaseerde opslag-engine
De nieuwe versie van GFI EventsManager maakt gebruik van een opslag-engine die op bestanden is gebaseerd en die is ontwikkeld door GFI om een groot aantal events op te slaan en hiermee te werken. Deze nieuwe engine werkt heel solide, ook als wordt gewerkt met honderden miljoenen events in dezelfde database.
Opmerking: GFI EventsManager 2012 biedt diverse opties om bestaande gegevens te importeren in de nieuwe database.
Nieuwe rapportage-engine
GFI EventsManager 2012 wordt nu geleverd met een nieuwe rapportage-engine die is geïntegreerd in de hoofdinterface van het product, waardoor een ultieme flexibiliteit wordt gerealiseerd. Beheerders kunnen met deze functie rapporten maken met aangepaste layouts en deze rechtstreeks in een browser bekijken of exporteren naar HTML- of PDF-formaat.
Gedetailleerd browsen en globaal zoeken
De browsers die worden gebruikt in oudere versies van GFI EventsManager zijn nu vervangen door één enkele browser die alle events van alle bronnen kan tonen, ongeacht het logtype, met schermen die kunnen worden aangepast. De browse-ervaring is ook comfortabeler dankzij de nieuwe detailfunctie.
En, last but not least, u kunt zoeken in alle events, wat erg handig is als u bijvoorbeeld moet rapporteren over activiteiten van gebruikers.
Encryptie en compressie van databases
De nieuwe opslag-engine van het product biedt de mogelijkheid om de loggegevens die naar de database worden geschreven, te versleutelen; dit is gebaseerd op een wachtwoord dat wordt geleverd door de beheerder. Aangezien de nieuwe opslag-engine op bestanden is gebaseerd, kan de gebruiker er ook voor kiezen om ruimte te besparen door Windows-compressie in te schakelen voor de map die als host fungeert voor de databasebestanden.
Overige functies
GFI EventsManager 2012 kan nu berichten ontleden op basis van schema’s met reguliere expressies. Ook wordt ondersteuning geboden voor logs met aangepaste tekst op basis van reguliere expressies. Geavanceerde gebruikers kunnen ontleedschema’s bewerken.

In a review on firewall.cx, Alan Drury describes GFI EventsManager 7 as an excellent tool that will “make your life easier and help keep both you and your systems out of trouble” and rates it 9 of out 10. He said the product enables you to collect and archive event logs across an organisation, but “there’s so much more to it than that”. He highlights GFI EventsManager’s ability to run external scripts and adds that “customisation is one of the real keys to this product”. Although GFI EventsManager 7 may be a little on the slow side at startup, “this is a testimony to the fact that the product is doing a lot of work on your behalf and, to get the best from it, you really should give it a decent system to run on.
